Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to supervise aircraft refuelling in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and national operating standards.It includes preparing for refuelling operations, supervising refuelling operations and managing post-refuelling operations.This unit addresses aviation technical skill requirements (physical, mental and task-management abilities) related to equipment and system operations of flight or ground operations personnel and contributes to safe and effective performance in complex aviation operational environments.Operations are conducted as part of recreational, commercial and military aircraft activities across a variety of operational contexts within the Australian aviation industry.Work is performed independently or under limited supervision within a single-pilot or multi-crew environment.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements are applicable to this unit.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare for refuelling operations
  • Fuel quality control checks are conducted in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Individual or team personal protective equipment (PPE) is checked for serviceability and functionality
       
Element: Refuelling brief is conducted
       
Element: Refuelling equipment is grounded and bonded prior to task
       
Element: Equipment is inspected in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Refuelling equipment pre-operational checks are conducted
       
Element: Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and hazard management implemented
       
Element: Supervise refuelling operations
  • Clearance to refuel aircraft is obtained
       
Element: Refuelling staff are directed to commence operations
       
Element: Safety precautions are implemented and monitored throughout refuelling operations
       
Element: Refuelling contingencies are communicated to refuelling team and aircraft crew
       
Element: Incident or emergency actions are managed in accordance with workplace procedures
